Turbo Kart Racers is a fully fledged racing game inside Minecraft which puts you in the driver seat in a furious race against 11 other players. During the game you can pick up boxes that give you certain advantages in the race.

The game has 42 different kart skins to choose from; you can customize and upgrade your kart with different particle trails, sounds, engines and more!

Gameplay[edit]

Resource Pack[edit]

The Resource Pack in Turbo Kart Racers is completely custom, adding an extremely large amount of changes to Minecraft's regular textures. The Karts and racing gear have been designed by Sphax, who is most known for his work on the Sphax PureBDCraft texture pack. The filesize of the resource pack is about 4.5MB for Minecraft version 1.8. If you experience lag or frame rate drops, visit the thread on the Turbo Kart Racers Resource Pack for more info.

Particles[edit]

Particle Quality[edit]

Particle Quality is an option in the shop (represented by a Nether Star) that allows the player to choose the amount of particles present in game. There are 3 choices: Low, Medium, and High. Medium and Low reduces the amount of particles you can see, whereas High shows all particles ingame. If you experience framerate lag, it is recommended that you set particle quality to either "Low" or "Medium".

Particle Trail Selector[edit]

The Particle Trail Selector is an option in the bottom right of the shop, indicated by the white-blue particles coming from the bottom right of a square. The particles in question come out from the 'exhaust' of your Kart. This is cosmetic only. All Particles are VIP Rank Exclusive.

Check the Minecraft Wiki for the particles in question.

Hearts 3000
Green Magic 2500

Item System[edit]

Main article: Items (Turbo Kart Racers)

Racing System[edit]

Turbo Kart Racers plays very similarly to Nintendo's Mario Kart, with some differences to account more for Minecraft's controls. For example, missiles (equivalent to the shells in Mario Kart) can be aimed in any direction you can face, rather than only straight ahead or behind you.

The goal of the game, similar to most racing games, is to go through the entire track for three laps faster than other players, while both avoiding the items used by others and using your own items to give yourself an edge.

Trophies[edit]

There are three trophies obtained after the game: 1st place gets a gold trophy, 2nd place gets silver, and 3rd place gets bronze. The amount of trophies, and thus leaderboard positions, is described under TKR Statistics.

Custom Parts[edit]

Custom Parts are equippible items that alter your performance on the track, earned by either finishing a race, using the Part Roller, or crafting them.

Custom Parts have the following attributes:

  • Frame
    • Traction - Determines how strict your control of your kart is.
    • Start Position - Determines you position at the start of a race.
    • Handling - Determines the speed of your turns.
  • Engine
    • Booster Speed - Determines the speed gained from speed boosters on the track.
    • Drifting Efficiency - Determines speed earned from drifts.
    • Brakes - Determines strength of your brakes.
  • Turbocharger
    • Recovery - Determines how quickly you recover from items used on you.
    • Acceleration - Determines how quickly you reach your top speed.
    • Top Speed - Determines your top speed without items or speed boosters.

Music Selection[edit]

Turbo Kart Racers includes seven songs, one for each track, an track for the results of a race, and a track for the pregame lobby.

Some of the tracks were later reused in other Hypixel games, such as Housing and Build Battle.

If one wishes to not hear the music, it may be turned off in the settings menu of the shop.

Mechanic[edit]

Before Turbo Kart Racers was moved to the Classic Games lobby, the Mechanic was a Villager that could be clicked to open the shop. However, ever since the game was moved to the Classic Games lobby, the Mechanic has not made any appearances.

Racing Suits[edit]

There are five brands of suits: Turbobrine, Slothdinger, Blueshell Inc., Hypesweggen, and Sphax Corp. Slothdinger in available to everyone, but the other four require ranks to purchase. (Blueshell Inc. requires VIP, Sphax Corp for VIP+, Turbobrine for MVP, and Hypesweggen for MVP+)

All suits are purely cosmetic, and can be removed altogether by clicking the glass block in the menu.

MVP+ can also create custom colors for their suits. However, due to Minecraft's limitations, it will only affect one brand.

Kart Customizer[edit]

Located in the Kart Upgrades section of the shop, the Kart Customizer allows you to change what parts are actively used during a game.

Kart parts are split into three types: Engines, Frames, and Turbochargers. Each one adds different stats to your kart.

Kart parts must be equipped in the Kart Customizer to be used in game. They are never equipped automatically.

Particle Quality[edit]

You may change your particle quality in the settings menu. It ranges from no particles to extreme quality, which removes all limits.

Junkyard[edit]

Shown here are all of your parts, and their stats, not on your kart, and you have the ability to scrap them for coins.

Part Roller[edit]

The Part Roller is located in the Kart Upgrades section of the shop.

Using it, you can spend 2500 coins to roll for a random part. This roll functions identically to the roll you get when completing a race.

Part Crafter[edit]

Located in the Kart Upgrades section of the shop, the Part Crafter allows you to spend coins to create kart parts.

What to look for while using the Part Crafter -

  • The arrows at the top allow you to change whether you are crafting a Frame, Turbocharger, or Engine. Each option has different stats.
  • The icon in-between the above two arrows shows what is currently being crafted.
  • The three rows in the center allow you to increase or decrease specific stats of your kart part. Hovering over each shows what is being affected.
  • The clay on the bottom row shows the full price of what is being crafted. If it is red, you do not have enough coins to craft it. If it it green, you may click it to confirm your craft.

Most rewards from the Grand Prix remain the same every month. However, specific months reward special helmets and kart skins. Any month that contains those rewards give out helmets starting at Iron division, and karts starting at Gold division.

You do not lose points until you reach 600. Master's division is top 3 every season.

In the Grand Prix menu of the shop, there is the option to freeze your points. While this is active, you will never lose point, and you will never gain points. It can be turned off at any time in the lobby.

Tips & Tricks[edit]

General[edit]

  • You can still slip on your own bananas.
  • You can hit yourself with snowballs to cool down your kart.
  • The timer on golden mushrooms does not start until you use it.

Offensive[edit]

  • If you use a Blue Torpedo while in the lead, you will hit yourself.

Defensive[edit]

  • You can use Notched swords to protect yourself from missiles, but it can be unreliable. Don't depend on it.

Trivia[edit]

  • Many models used in the resource pack were created by Sphax, best known for their BDCraft resource packs.
  • There are several locations among the maps of invisible armor stands holding sticks.
    • There is also an unused billboard texture among the resource pack's files. As replacing the stick model manually with a billboard model causes the held sticks to display the billboards perfectly, it is believed that the model was removed from the resource pack before release without updating the maps.
  • If the part roller is used in the Classic Games lobby and someone gains an Awesome rank part from it, the appropriate sound cue will play to everyone in the lobby, despite not being heard if the pack is now manually active.
  • There were many assets created for the October 2018 update that were never added. Most were left out due to containing copyrighted material, being replaced with other assets, or limitations with resource packs.
    • Most notably, multiple armor sets were created as Grand Prix rewards. It was rejected, as all five default armor sets were already is use, and ways to display other sets requires the use of mods.
  • By releasing a drift right as you are hit by an item that launches you upwards, you will still move forward while being launched. This can be used to get out-of-bounds in some places, though you will still have to run /stuck to continue the race.
  • There is a path in the end of race stands in Olympus that you can use to fall onto the track. However, due to all the barriers and the short time before you are sent to the lobby, this is difficult to do.
  • Each map has a large blimp in the sky somewhere on the map. The name displayed on the blink is the username of whoever has an active Classic Games booster. If no boosters are active, it will have a generic message.

Bugs[edit]

  • Due to how the kart models were created, there are many instances of textures clipping and flickering.
  • Racing suits in the shop do not always match up to what is worn when equipped.
  • If a boost is performed in the pregame lobby right as everyone is warped to the starting line, you will still be boosted forward.
    • If a booster is hit during the boost, the player will be able to drive freely during the race start countdown.
  • Sometimes karts will clip through walls, sometimes causing a player to fall out of bounds. This can be fixed by typing /stuck into chat, or using the barrier in your hotbar.
  • /mypos displays the Grand Prix points from June 2019 instead of the current season.
