Minions are a fundamental part of Hypixel SkyBlock. They are small workers that can be placed on the Private Island to gather resources over time.

Basics

Minions allow the player to receive resources even when offline. A Minion is placed in the centre of a 5x5 block area (Expandable with a Minion Expander) of varying materials depending on the type of minion.

Collecting resources from Minions counts towards your Skills and your Collections.

Each Minion has its own ideal layout. A normal minion layout can be found below. Following this layout will make sure that the minion you are using will work at its maximum potential.

Minions can be crafted into higher tiers which increases collection speed and maximum storage size. Tier XI is currently the highest tier a Minion can have.

Minion Upgrades

Minions have upgrade slots, unlocked by collecting resources. Each Minion has 1 slot for Minion Fuel, 1 slot for Automated Shipping items and 2 slots for Minion Upgrades.

Minion fuel increases the speed that a Minion works at. Before placing Minion Fuel into a Minion, be aware that Minion Fuel cannot be taken back after you have put it into a Minion. Attempting to get Minion Fuel from a Minion will automatically obstruct the fuel.

Automated Shipping allows Minions to sell resources once their storage is full. The money they gather is held by the Minion until it is collected by a player (in the Automated Shipping slot).

Upgrades have various effects on Minions. Upgrades can be limited to certain Minions.

Additionally, one Storage Chest (Small, Medium and Large Storages) may be placed next to a Minion for more storage. Crystals can also be placed near Minions to further speed Minions up.

Fuels

Coal Increases Minion speed by 5% for 30 minutes. Vanilla item
Block of Coal Increases Minion speed by 5% for 5 hours Vanilla item
Enchanted Bread Increases Minion speed by 5% for 12 hours. Wheat V
Enchanted Coal Increases Minion speed by 10% for 24 hours. Coal IV
Enchanted Charcoal Increases Minion speed by 20% for 1 day. Coal V
Solar Panel Increases Minion speed by 25% during daytime. Unlimited duration! Nether Quartz IX
Enchanted Lava Bucket Increases Minion speed by 20%. Unlimited duration! (spelling error in skyblock that says it is 25 percent) Coal VIII
Catalyst Increases Minion speed by 300% for 3 hours. End Stone VIII

Automated Shipping

Budget Hopper Sells resources when the Minion's storage is full for 50% of its selling price. Iron Ingot V

Upgrades

Auto Smelter Automatically smelts anything that the Minion produces. Cobblestone III
Compactor Compacts items to their block forms. Cobblestone V
Super Compactor 3000 Compacts items to their enchanted forms. Cobblestone IX
Diamond Spreading Occasionally collect Diamond in addition to regular resources. Diamond VI
Minion Expander Increases the radius of the Minion from 5x5 to 7x7.
In the case you add 2 Minion Expanders, the minion will have a 9x9 area to generate blocks.		 Nether Quartz V
Flint Shovel Gravel Minion only: Always receive Flint instead of Gravel Gravel II
Enchanted Egg Chicken Minion only: Chickens always drop an Egg after they spawn Raw Chicken VI

Other

Unique Minions

The amount of unique Minions you can place on your island varies as you craft more unique Minions. This includes crafting new unique Minions or higher tier Minions of a Minion type you have already collected.

In the table below you can find the amount of placeable Minions after crafting certain amount of unique Minions.

To work out coins per hour rate for any level use (its divided by two because each second action is placing the block):

Early Calculator before Minion fuel directly changed production rate:

( 3600 / [production rate] x Sell Price per action) /2 * (100% + Minion Fuel efficiency Percentage) * (Automated shipping Hopper sell price percentage)

New Calculator where Minion fuel directly impacts the action time:

Trivia and hints

  • Each new level of a Minion is a unique Minion level contributing towards more Minion slots.

Minion Dialogue

Minions have dialogue. Dialogue was added in place to make Minions feel a bit more like sentient beings. Minion dialogue can be seen above a Minion's head (whenever they are "speaking"). Below is a list of some of the dialogue that Minions use.

  • "Creeper"
  • Followed by "Aww man"
  • "Did you say something?"
  • "Did you hear that new song?"
  • "Hi (username)!"
  • "What's up?"
  • "We live in a simulation."
  • "I'm your favourite, right?"
  • "Boop!"
  • "Fancy Armor you have there!"[1]
  • ”Nothing’s getting though that armor!”
  • "This is fine."[2]
  • "I'm ironman!" ~ Iron Minion
  • "Wanna do something after work?", "Sure! Whens that?", "No. Clue"[3]
  • "Hi I'm (Type of the minion)", "I know", "k"[3]
  • "What if those stars are other Skyblocks?" "Wow, that's deep" "We live in a simulation." "Calm down, Neo"[3]
  • "Shifumi?" "Sure" "3" "2" "1" "(Both minions either say Rock, Paper or Shears at the same time.)" The minion who then wins this game of Rock Paper Shears will then proceed to say "Ha, I won!" while the losing Minion says "YOU CHEATED".[3]
